Important Information On Hosting Unlimited Bandwidth

Looking for hosting unlimited bandwidth? At one time hosting was expensive but not so much these days and in fact can be considered an essential commodity that anyone into blogging, internet marketing or making money online must have and herein comes the most important question in terms of what is the best bang for buck.

Let us see what is essential in hosting – primarily it would be disk space and next would be bandwidth. Disk space would be the amount of data you can put on your hosting server and bandwidth would relate to the traffic and the number of visitors coming to your blog or website and how much data they would consume in terms of traffic. This is important especially if the data you are serving on your website will be images or videos and not just plain text. This bandwidth usage will cost money and hence the search for unlimited bandwidth especially if the blog or website has many visitors and is a very popular one.

The days of breathtakingly fast internet speeds like double figures in MPBS are upon us (or will be soon) in many parts of the world but along with this growth the web server has not experienced similar exponential growth and the hard drive in use is still limited in terms of the space it has and limited by the actual physical size of the hard disc drives. Now herein comes the caveat emptor part of the deal! Many hosting companies offer unlimited plans for both disk space and bandwidth but here are a few points to consider before jumping on the unlimited bandwagon.

1. Does unlimited really mean unlimited? Fact is most of the websites hardly consume any disc space or bandwidth and the hosting companies bank on this and put you on shared hosting along with other users. Now I’m not saying the hosting companies are bad or are cheating, just asking you to check what “unlimited” really means in their fine print.

2. Should you go for limited or unlimited hosting? If you have a small website and with very little in terms of traffic then why pay for limited hosting, instead Google “free hosting” and sign up with any of them. They will give decent space and decent traffic for free. Otherwise if you are in the business of internet marketing and your website is your business or is crucial to your business then you will really need a professional set up and in this instance planning for limited hosting is not a good option because everyone intends for their business to grow and so plan accordingly. Just don’t go alone for the unlimited aspect of a hosting, but look out for customer service and other aspects of a hosting provider because you really need to partner with a good hosting provider for your online success.

3. Should a limited plan not be considered at all? If you have lots of high bandwidth consuming content like pictures, videos, downloads, etc. then limited is really not an option. If you are looking to expand your business and intending for visitors to come in then plan accordingly. Also do keep in mind that if you have limited hosting but consume more than you are paying for then your hosting company will simply close your account i.e. shut down your website or charge you more for the extra bandwidth usage, so do keep a watch out for such occurrences.

4. What should I choose? Well plan ahead. Look where you are headed in terms of your business or even personal blogging and plan accordingly. While one cannot predict for sure what will happen in the future you would still have a plan laid out for your online business so factor in the hosting too in that plan. You can also upgrade your hosting plan in terms of both disc space and bandwidth should the need arise anytime as most hosting providers do allow this.

Finally, while unlimited bandwidth is good, it is not the only thing you should be looking for. Look out for other aspects of your hosting provider in terms of customer service, response time, and how well they are rated. I’ve personally used a number of hosting providers but the best one I’ve come across and both use and recommend to all my friends and family is Hostgator so do check them out at Hostgator.com.
